Sushi Roll Quilt with Sam Hunter

June 11, 2016 at 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

sushicover

This is a great novelty quilt, and the perfect gift for a food lover! Unrolled, the quilt looks like modern color blocks; rolled up, it looks like a sushi roll!

During class, we will spend the morning putting the color blocks together. In the afternoon we will use the power of teamwork to help each other pin the quilts for an envelope (no binding) finish. You’ll take the quilt home to quilt it.

SUPPLIES NEEDED: NOTE: Put your name on everything!

  • Color Block Sushi Rolls pattern
  • Color block fabrics for the front of the quilt (see the pattern for details)
  • Backing and batting for the quilt
  • Sewing machine in good working order + power cord and pedal
  • 1/4’’ Foot for your machine
  • If your sewing machine has a table extension, bring it – it makes sewing parts easier and more accurate!
  • Spare sewing machine needles
  • Cutting mat at least 18’’ x 24’’ and rotary cutter (do you need a new blade?)
  • Ruler at least 18’’ long
  • Thread to match, or neutral thread + one wound bobbin of thread
  • Scissors, pins, seam ripper, other sewing supplies, etc.
  • A large box of quilter’s safety pins for basting the quilt
  • Your favorite beverage, lunch, and afternoon snacks or chocolate!
  • A sense of humor and adventure, and anything else you need to be comfortable for the day
